5 reasons to sell a home in the summer

Edward-1.jpgWe've got something you'll definitely want to share with your sellers.

Now the General Election is over (and that guy you've not seen in years stops filling your Facebook feed with his weird political views), we're going into what could be 2017's best season for moving house.

Edward Norman (left), partner at Surrey estate agent Roger Coupe is a major advocate for the 'Summer Sell'. Here, he brings together his top reasons why you and your sellers should act now.

Summer Sell: for home improvements

EN: "During the warmer months, buyers know they can make immediate home improvements upon completion," says Norman. "Be it redecorating or an extension, the dryer months are prime DIY time, and provide the best opportunity to move forward with the least amount of disruption."

Summer Sell: you've never looked so good

EN: “The outdoors is now in full bloom, and a great looking garden can be the decisive factor for prospective buyers.  In the summer, gardens are an added extension to a property as the area brings another room to the home.  Having a space that is full of colour and brimming with life helps people visualise themselves alfresco."

Summer Sell: more daylight, more viewings

EN: “Longer daylight hours mean there’s more time for viewings.  Buyers who can only visit a property at a weekend during winter will be able to view after work in the light.   And, with the sun still shining until late, rooms will be filled with natural light.”

Summer Sell: the school holidays

EN: “Parents of school-aged children often feel more relaxed about a potential upheaval during summer holidays as the youngsters have more time to settle before a new school year."

Summer Sell: Christmas isn't far away...

EN: “We hate to mention the C word while the sun is shining, but with Christmas far enough behind us, people will already be planning this year’s celebrations.  When buyers look for a larger property they want to move before winter to ensure they are settled in time for the festive season.”

Edward concluded: “We have served the south Surrey and West Sussex border area since 1991, and over the years have had tremendous success selling properties in the summer.  The weather plays such an important part as it tends to be far nicer, and more consistent.  It also means people have one less thing to worry about on moving day.”
