Following a year long monitoring process of referral fees, it’s expected that James Munro, head of the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agent Team will address the matter at the NAEA Annual Conference on 27th February 2020.
Guidance delivered by bodies including the NAEA, The Property Ombudsman and RICS suggested that fees should be permissible but disclosed.
The government has previously expressed that referral fees should be transparent and if this could not be achieved, a ban would be considered.
