So after weeks of canvassing and debating, the Tories have won the 2019 UK General Election with a majority.
Estate Agent Today asked 11 industry experts what they think this will mean for the housing sector. Among the expected changes:
- The end of Section 21 Notices. The industry has expressed concern that this could lead to indefinite tenancies which could put landlords off altogether.
- An increase in Stamp Duty which would increase the top rate on the most expensive properties to 18% which is expected to impact overseas buyers.
- The building of 300,000 new homes and continued discounts for first time buyers.
